B. ‚porky pie‘ statt ‚lie‘)* * *Rhyming slang ist eine Sonderform des Cockney-Slangs, in dem das gemeinte Wort durch einen Ausdruck ersetzt wird, der sich darauf reimt: z. B. "apples and pears" statt stairs. Für Leute, die damit nicht vertraut sind, kann das ziemlich verwirrend werden, vor allem dann, wenn das Reimwort weggelassen wird – so wird "butcher's hook", das für look steht, zu "butcher's", wie in "let's take a butcher's". Einige Ausdrücke des "rhyming slang" sind Teil der Umgangssprache geworden, z. B.
